Sustainable Fisheries in the South Atlantic

The South Atlantic Branch works with the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (South Atlantic Council) to manage federal fisheries off the coasts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and the east coast of Florida.

Working with the South Atlantic Council, the South Atlantic Branch develops fishery management plans and amendments. The South Atlantic Branch coordinates public review and comments during regulation and amendment development; and issues fishing closures to prevent overfishing if landings approach annual catch limits.
