Amendment to Remove Four Snapper-Grouper Species from the Fishery Management Plan for Snapper-Grouper in the South Atlantic Region (FMP) and Clarify Golden Tilefish Longline Endorsement Regulations (Amendment 35)

  • Amendment 35 would remove black snapper, dog snapper, mahogany snapper, and schoolmaster from the FMP because they are rarely harvested.  If removed from the FMP it is expected that the State of Florida will extend fishing regulations for those species into Federal waters to create a consistent regulatory environment across jurisdictional boundaries.
  • Amendment 35 would also clarify regulations governing the use of Golden Tilefish Longline Endorsements to align them with the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council’s original intent when the endorsement program was implemented.
