The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council and the Secretary of Commerce have approved the Individual Fishing Quota (IFQ) program for red snapper in the Gulf of Mexico. Starting January 1, 2007, the IFQ management pratices will replace the traditional Gulf of Mexico red snapper licenses (both Class1 and Class 2).
