The 13th quota monitoring report (February 15, 2005) of commercial king mackerel and Spanish mackerel landings, etc., for the 2004/2005 fishing year is attached.
GULF GROUP KING MACKEREL
The commercial fisheries for Gulf group king mackerel will open for the 2004/2005 fishing year on July 1, 2004. The Florida east coast subzone, however, will open on November 1, 2004, and end on March 31, 2005.
ATLANTIC GROUP KING MACKEREL AND ATLANTIC/GULF GROUP SPANISH MACKEREL
The 2004/2005 fishing year for the Atlantic migratory groups of king mackerel and Spanish mackerel and the Gulf migratory group of Spanish mackerel began on April 1, 2004, and will end on March 31, 2005.
Estimates for Florida east coast commercial landings of Atlantic group king and Spanish mackerel for April and May were not available for inclusion in this report. Neither were estimates available for Gulf states' landings of Gulf group Spanish mackerel for these two months.
