Proactive Species Conservation Grant Opportunities

  • Instructions on Preparing and Submitting a Grant Proposal is available through Grants.gov
    • Deadline for submissions is February 12th, 2009
  • Through this grant program, NMFS will provide Federal assistance, in the form of grants or cooperative agreements, to support conservation efforts for species it has identified as Species of Concern.

Southeast Region - Proactive Species Conservation Grants Funded 2009

  • Agency: Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Project Title - Fundulus jenkinsi, Saltmarsh Topminnow: Conservation Planning and Implementation
  • Agency: Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, Project Title - Alabama shad (Alosa alabamae) restoration for the Apalachicola- Chattahoochee- Flint River Basin, Florida, Georgia, Alabama

Restoration Center Funding Opportunities

  • The NOAA Community-based Restoration Program (CRP) is a financial and technical assistance program authorized under the Magnuson-Stevens Reauthorization Act of 2006, which helps communities implement sound habitat restoration projects. These funding opportunities can be utilized for the restoration of areas where Species of Concern can be found.

Internal Grants Funded 2009

The Internal Grant Program is separate from funding for the Proactive Species Conservation Grant Program. This particular program is open to NOAA biologists as Principal Investigators on projects implementing conservation measures and/or conducting research activities to improve the status of Species of Concern.
